We’re excited to share some news from the Sigla Creative team: our Creative Director, Carolyn Gerin, has been selected to join Cohort 7 of the Climatebase Fellowship — a selective program for professionals building careers in climate.

It’s a big moment for us and a meaningful step forward in our ongoing commitment to social impact and climate action.

What is Climatebase?

Climatebase is the leading platform for climate careers. They connect mission-driven people with jobs, learning, and community — all focused on real solutions to the climate crisis.

Here’s what they do:

  • Run a climate jobs platform used by over 1 million people each year
  • Host the yearly San Francisco Climate Week, with over 18,000 attendees
  • Publish a weekly newsletter with 100,000+ readers
  • Support a private talent network for hiring and collaboration
  • Lead the Climatebase Fellowship, a career accelerator for people serious about working in climate

Since 2022, more than 11,000 people have applied to the Fellowship, but just 2,400 have been accepted. This highly competitive program is a strong signal of who’s leading the future of climate work.

Why Carolyn Applied

Carolyn applied after her good friend, Carla Schlemminger, a native San Franciscan and Climatebase Fellow Cohort 6, recommended the program. Carla used her knowledge to create measurable change in her local community. Carla is now Head of Market Development at Investature, the Cohort 5 Capstone Finalist (Whale Tank).

Carolyn and the Sigla team saw that collaborating with other climate pros, gaining new tools, and focusing creative energy on climate solutions was the logical next step. We’ve always believed in working purposefully; this opportunity builds on that foundation. Being an active member who plans to be a mentor and volunteer in the Bay Area-based Fellowship long after Cohort 7 ends also checks a lot of boxes for Sigla’s community-building goals.

What the Fellowship Involves

The Fellowship brings together professionals across climate sectors, from policy and science to design, media, and tech.

  • Fellows meet regularly to:
  • Learn from leaders in the field
  • Build community with peers
  • Learn valuable skills and tools
  • Develop capstone projects that address real-world climate problems

It’s not just about absorbing information — it’s about applying it, sharing it, and turning ideas into action. Fellows support each other, exchange feedback, and grow their impact through direct collaboration.

How Sigla Is Contributing

Carolyn and other Cohort members are co-developing a capstone project as part of the Fellowship. The focus is on using their collective strengths to tackle pressing climate challenges in tangible ways.

For Sigla, that means bringing our communication, strategy, and storytelling strengths into the mix. We help organizations clarify their message, align with their audience, and activate support — essential for any climate-focused initiative.

Whether working with nonprofits, agencies, or climate tech companies, we aim to make the message clear, compelling, and effective.

Why This Matters to Us

“Sigla” means “to sail” in Old Norse, and that idea guides our work—staying open, moving forward, and navigating change with intention. As a woman-owned creative agency focused on social impact, we partner with organizations tackling urgent challenges, including the climate crisis.

Clear, honest communication is essential to making progress, and our job is to help people understand the issues and engage with the solutions. The Fellowship gives us new tools, fresh perspectives, and deeper connections to a community working toward a better future, strengthening us as individuals and as a team.

A Word from Carolyn

“Joining the Climatebase Fellowship is about more than professional growth. It’s about surrounding myself with people who care deeply, think critically, and take action to build real-world solutions. We believe that when talented, caring people get together, innovations can happen that much faster. The climate needs our best and brightest. We are truly honored to work with everyone at the Fellowship and Cohort 7.”

Over the next few months, we’ll share updates on Carolyn’s Fellowship experience and Sigla’s capstone project. We’re excited to grow, contribute, and learn from a wider community committed to climate action.
