Northern Circle Indian Housing Authority

Introduction

A photojournalistic storytelling initiative to document the profound impact of the Northern Circle Indian Housing Authority (NCIHA) on the integrated tribal communities it serves. This project showcased NCIHA’s good works, visionary leadership, and community wide benefits through vivid visual storytelling — providing the photographic “receipts” needed to support future funding from Congress, the Senate, the State of California, and grantmakers. ‘Hope, Healing and Housing’ was the central theme.

The storytelling journey included multiple tribes across the region and focused on ceremonial practices, youth leadership, education, tribal elders, community anchors, and cultural artisans. The narrative centered the dignity, sovereignty, and resilience of these communities while showcasing NCIHA as a critical force for intertribal strength and stability.

RESULTS Helped secure a $2.4M grant from the Bezos Family Fund in 2024.

Sigla has proven to be a hard-working creative team and ally for NCIHA and have brought their humanity, creativity, and keen observation to all work products: a photo documentary storytelling project, a branding and messaging exploration, and look and feel for our Annual Report cover. We recently won a $2.4 million grant from the Bezos Foundation One Fund, and the storytelling helped to convince the quality and range of our important community work for Northern California tribes.
